Signs of poor contractors – nothing in their hands

As you likely know, there are good contractors and bad ones. Unfortunately, the bad ones can outnumber the good in some areas but there are ways to tell them apart.

Non committal answers are a tipoff to a contractor you might not want to hire.

A typical scenario has a so-called contractor showing up without measuring gear or even pad and pencil and answering your questions with vague promises or shrugs.

The contractor you want is one that cares about doing the best possible job. You’ll want to see the contractor’s portfolio of previous work, a list of references, photos, license and insurance details – if the contractor doesn’t present these at first call, look elsewhere.
