Renovation Tips: choose the right fixtures

by Stickywire on Saturday April 14, 2012

If you are renovating a bathroom or kitchen or even a closet, you will need fixtures that fit the space and that will be as efficient as possible in the operation of the whole house. For instance, you might buy a low profile, water saving toilet for a small bathroom. There are narrow sinks for small bathrooms or kitchens. Don’t install full size fixtures in a tiny space; they will look silly and crowd the room.

Be very careful about the fixtures and appliances installed in a new kitchen. Of course, the stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and sink must fit into the counters and cabinetry. They must also suit the look of the kitchen.

As well, major appliances have to be as efficient as possible and should work with the existing systems in the house. It might not make sense to install a gas stove in a previously electric kitchen if you have to bring in a new gas system with new lines. This extra work may lead to a lot more work than you expected when you began the reno.
